President-elect Barack Obama has chosen Nancy Sutley, a member of San Francisco Baykeeper's Board of Directors, as the new Chief of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). This position is a primary advisor to the President on environmental policy matters, and Obama's CEQ Chief will likely play a key role in incorporating environmental improvements into economic stimulus plans and in reversing harmful policies established under the recent Bush administration.
Nancy Sutley has been a member of the Baykeeper Board since 2005. As Chair of the Board’s program committee, Nancy has made a lasting impact on our efforts to protect the Bay from pollution. She currently serves as Deputy Mayor for Energy and Environment for the City of Los Angeles and has a long history of advancing strong environmental policies as the state and federal level.
Baykeeper is thrilled to know that one of our own will be helping to make the environmental change our country needs. |
